No. Wish we had though. I know I shouldn't like grammar schools but I think it would've been nice...

Most kids in the Uk don't take the 11+ xxdiamondxx. About 20-50 years ago there were 2 types of high schools - grammar schools and secondary moderns. You took a test when you were 11 (the 11+) and if you passed, you went to the grammar school, and if you failed, you went to the secondary modern.
Most parts of the Uk don't have this system any more, because they thought it was unfair that which school you went to was decided when you were only 11, particularly since your chances of doing well at school weren't as good at a secondary modern as at a grammar school. But some parts of the UK (very few) still have this system, and kids still take the 11+ and those who pass and those who fail go to different schools. Hope it helps! Izzyx

What schools do they have now then? Are they just all the same? Personally I think the eleven + was a good idea, but then I went to a grammar school. Secondary schools did foundation and intermediate GCSE's and grammar did intermediate and higher, no foundation option. I do think that grammar schools push you further and there is more room for faster learning as you are all of a certain level. People who are at a lower level of learning aren't able to keep up and to take the class slower for the people with a higher level of learning is unfair. It's not about it being a test, it's more about seeing which school is best for you.
